THE DIFFICULTIES OF LIVING IN SHARED HOUSING... | DAEP #13 & #14

*ALL VIEWS ARE MY OWN AND NOT OF THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY, CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY OR YUMMY JOBS*

Hey there, pals!

Unfortunately, this week almost saw the end of my Disney journey...

An aspect of the Disney programs is living in shared accommodation. I have mentioned in previous updates that there have been some disagreements in the apartment, but I have always treated everyone with respect and decency. However, these disagreements have been continuous for the last eight weeks, which later turned to abuse. Even to this day, I still do not understand why... maybe it was because I am different? Maybe I have a better work location with great friends? Maybe I have better work hours or created magical moments that I can treasure a lifetime? I am a tough nut to crack, and I had enough of my roommates constantly bringing me down.

It turns out that my roommates had made several complaints about me to security at my housing complex. This resulted in a meeting with the management team at the service centre – anyone who wants to change apartments will have to authorise with the service centre management team. The management team informed me of the false claims that my roommates, in which I stuck my word and told the truth. And so, the housing management decided it was best to pull me out the apartment and put me into a temporary apartment to allow me to have some time to myself where I could not be hurt anymore.

I was due to go to fairy school after my meeting, but I had to shift all my belongings to a temporary apartment within my housing complex before 5pm. I was frantically trying to contact both my leader at fairy school to let her know what was going on, as well as my mum to help me calm down and take the first step in shifting all my belongings. Once I got going, I was super impressed with myself as I managed to move my belongings in 6 trips from my old apartment to my temporary apartment.

I will forever be grateful to my leaders at fairy school for their kindness in allowing me to take a break from my fairy school studies and register for my classes if I felt up to it. When I arrived at fairy school after shifting my belongings, I received nothing but love from my fairy classmates.

As well as moving into a new apartment, my academic assignments for Central Michigan University have been coming in thick and fast, often with very little notice from my supervisor. On top of being at fairy school full-time, I have been finding it exceedingly difficult to balance everything out. My only real getaway has been sitting on a quiet beach between the Polynesian resort and Grand Floridian resort & spa, which is an awesome spot to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks display.

I’m sorry that this update is only a short one. As you can imagine, this has taken a massive toll on my mental health and overall self-esteem. So, I can only apologise if my updates become staggered over the upcoming weeks.

Thank you so much for reading and have a magical day!

-Hannah
