MICKEY'S NOT SO SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY & TRYING OUT THE DISNEY SKYLINER | DAEP UPDATE #11 & #12

*ALL VIEWS ARE MY OWN AND NOT OF THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY, CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY OR YUMMY JOBS*

Boo to you, pals!

This post may include stories from September, but it’s Halloween season here on Once Upon Hannah’s Dream! You may remember from my last post that I published a photo giving you a chance to guess at who I dressed up as for Halloween and the film that my friend and I coordinated our Halloween outfits too! If you haven’t seen the photo, here it is again:

Still stuck? Well, a second movie has just been released starring this very iconic villain, who just so happens to be the mistress of all evil and had the responsibility for all misfortunes that took place in King Stefan's kingdom in Sleeping Beauty. Need more clues? Her looks are very dark, elegant, super dramatic and has flamboyancy with her magic powers.

Of course, I went as one of my all-time favourite Disney villains, MALEFICENT - just the DIY version! When I went to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, every Guest complimented my costume because they instantly recognised who I was portraying! When I was purchasing the elements for my Halloween costume, one of my fairy friends and I convinced another fairy friend to go as Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, as that's her all-time favourite princess and it would coordinate with my outfit. It took some time to convince my friend, but it worked so well. Plus, we came away with some really awesome photos from one of the runner Photopass Cast Members!

My fairy friends and I rode a couple of rides and met a couple of characters before finding a spot, with our cups of water from Starbucks, for the Hocus Pocus castle stage show, Boo to You parade and No so Spooky Spectacular fireworks display. We were stood in the same place of three hours straight, but it was totally worth it! All the performances/displays were amazing and they are some of my favourite performances I have witnessed at the Walt Disney World Resort! After the performances, my friends and I rode Space Mountain with the Halloween overlay twist. To sum it up in one sentence: it was awesome, and we all screamed! We had so much fun that we decided to do a re-ride before calling it a day as we all had to be back in fairy school the next day ☹

Throughout our night at the Halloween party, the three of us stopped off at treat stations and picked up lots and lots of candy! Before going to the party, one of my leaders from fairy school had given a piece advice beforehand. They told me to take a pillowcase and use that as a bag for trick or treating bag. I got so much candy throughout the night and I am glad that none of my candy toppled out!

Additionally, I got to try out the Walt Disney World Resort’s newest transportation: the Skyliner (before the gondola incident)! I was able to ride all the different cable car lines: Hollywood Studios to Caribbean Beach, Caribbean Beach to Art of Animation/Pop Century, and Caribbean Beach to Epcot via Riviera. I will say that my favourite cable car line was from the Caribbean Beach resort to Art of Animation/Pop Century because of how the system glides over water, which looks stunning from the Art of Animation/Pop Century station!

There are three questionable areas of the Skyliner transportation system...

· Temperate inside the gondolas – my experience of the Skyline was on a beautiful, sunny September afternoon and the Florida humidity was still relatively high for that time of year. During a couple of my rides, there was a point where the gondola system reduced in speed significantly or had come to a complete stop, while I was still suspended in mid-air. Because there was no air-conditioning installed in the gondolas, the cooling system was the breeze from the gondolas velocity or a windy forecast. Either way, it can get extremely hot in those little cabins!

· Gondola speed – For a cable car system, these gondolas were faster than any I had ever experienced, especially when taking off into the sky or coming to a stop in one of the stations. The spacing between each gondola is very small, which could cause future problems. As a result, this did generate problems! A week and a half after my experience, there was an incident on the Skyliner, where there was a gondola collision in one of the stations. Guests were stranded in the air and emergency services from Orange County, as well as the fire service at the Walt Disney World Resort had to rescue the stranded Guests.

· Epcot International Gateway entrance - now, we all know and love the Walt Disney World Resort for its creativeness and ability to immerse Guests. Well, the Disney Skyliner potentially takes a step back from that. Just before arriving at the Epcot International Gateway station, the gondolas fly past a backstage construction area of the attraction development centred around Ratatouille. And, the only form covering was with a banner, detailing "Opening Summer 2020".

Nevertheless, it is still a fun transportation system and it does give you some spectacular views of the Walt Disney World Resort.

My adventures continued as I took my final fairy field trip this week. For my final fairy school field trip, I ventured next door of the Magic Kingdom Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and was in the heart of Fantasyland. My accounting and sewing classes from fairy school came in handy here in Fantasyland. Plus, I had to show an area leader how to correctly put through a personalised embroidery order! Cinderella’s mice would definitely be proud of me.

But now, it’s back to fairy school for a busy season…

Thank you so much for reading and have a magical day!
